1987 constitution of Biak na Bato or Constitution Hala sa biak na bato - 1897
-promulgated by PH revolutionary government on Nov 1, 1897


Malolos Congress ( La Constitucion de Malolos) 1899

-approved by Emilio Aguinaldo on January 21, 1899
-written in spanish
-built following the revolutionary government of Spanish
-first republican constitution in asia
-spanish is the offical language

FEATURES:
-basic civil right
-separation of church and state
-calls creation of assembly of representatives which would act as the legislative body

Commonwealth and third republic ( March 23, 1935 )

-Written in 1934
-adopted by the commonwealth of the Philippiines (1935-1946)
-later used by third republic (1946-1972)
-preparing PH for independence from the US

Preamble:

FEATURES

1. provide alia for unicameral legislator and have a 6-year term for president
2. amended in 1940 to have bicameral body and limits term of president by 4 years and two consecutive terms (8 years in total)

1939 amendment
-liberalized all laws and made few changes on economic provisions of tydings-mcduffie law.

1940 amendments
-by virtue of resolution no. 73
-bicameral congress
-4 year, 2 consecutive term for pres
-creation of COMELEC

-1943-1945
-under japs in liue to the commonwealth government and prepare PH for true independence
-Jose P Laurel appointed as president by the national assembly
-inaug in October 1943
-has degree in Tokyo International University
-shortlived and not really credited

1947 amendment
-known as parity amendment
-gives americans equal rights with filipinos in equal exploitation of rresources

1973 constitution:

-saligang batas ng Pilipinas
-ratified by citizen assemblies on January 17, 1973
-

1987 constitution

-ratified on February 2, 1987
-by Corazon Aquino
-constitution should be included in curiculum
