Types of Curricula in Schools

Note to visitors: I made this for my own review. Expect that these words are written based on my understanding. Don't expect a perfect grammatical structure.

1. Recommended Curriculum - a curriculum that is recommended by governing bodies in education such as Deped, CHED, and TESDA. Comes in the form of memo or policy. UNESCO also recommends curricula.

2. Written Curriculum - document-based curriculum in a form of course of study, syllabi, modules, books, instructional guides. k-12 is the most recent written curriculum.

3. Taught Curriculum - putting life in the written curriculum. Largely depends on the skill of the teacher and the learning style of the learners.

4. Supported Curriculum - support materials that teachers need to make learning and teaching meaningful. Example: print materials like books, charts, posters, worksheets. Non-print like PPT, movies, slides, models, realias, mock-ups, and other electronic illustrations.

5. Assessed Curriculum - taught and supported curricula have to be evaluated to find out if the teacher succeded or not in facilitating learning.

6. Learned Curriculum - if a student changed behavior, he/she learned.

7. Hidden or Implicit Curriculum - not planned but have an impact on the behavior of the learner. This curriculum is not seen but plays a big role in learning.
